A meeting was organised earlier this year by OLMC who invited a group of organic farmers to go behind the scenes at the newly opened Yeo Valley Farms’ calf-rearing unit looking at beef production from dairy-bred calves.
OLMC would like to thank all those that attended and a special thank you to our hosts, Yeo Valley, and to Richard Greaves (Yeo Valley Farm Manager) for reinforcing the idea that beef from dairy-bred calves is possible!
Peter, Toby & Sam Boyles
OLMC have also been working with Peter, Toby and Sam Boyles whose passion for livestock shines through in every calf they rear. They sourced sturdy Hereford calves from a nearby organic dairy and raised them on high-quality organic milk replacer, with constant access to ad-lib concentrate and fresh straw and reared healthy, thriving animals.
