OLMC enjoyed a busy day at the Beef Expo at Darlington Auction Mart on Saturday 28th May. Our stand was one of the largest representatives of the organic sector at the show. Approximately 70 people visited the stand to chat to OLMC’s Managing Director Clive Hill, Peter Jones, Managing Director of Peter Jones Livestock and Director and Store Cattle Manager of OLMC and fieldsperson Manon Rhys. New and existing customers from the organic and conventional farming world had travelled from Ireland, Wales, the West Country, Norfolk, Suffolk, Lincolnshire and Scotland. A competition to win £100 by guessing the average weight of a group of 29 Organic North Devon store cattle was won by Neil Howie from Cheshire who attributed the win to his father who always made it his practice to weigh his cattle in the 1960’s thereby passing on to his son the ability to have a keen eye on assessing the weight of cattle. The average weight of the cattle was 502 kgs. The Beef Expo is a celebration and exploration of everything that British Beef has to offer, a place to network, to exchange ideas and to cultivate new business.
