OLMC requires beef cattle of 260~400kg carcass weight of the best conformation possible, with a 3~4L fat cover in order to meet base price or better. The cattle must have valid Organic and Farm Assurance Certification.
The Marketing office will notify producers and processors of intended delivery and make the necessary arrangements for stock to enter the slaughterhouse. It will also promptly convey back to producers their slaughter details by their preferred method of contact.
OLMC has a growing network of Livestock Contractors who can select and advise members on the condition of their stock.
Producers can make their own transportation arrangements or OLMC can provide transport to slaughter through its network of ABM accredited hauliers.
OLMC has a regular market for both dairy and suckler cull cows. All must be certified as fully organic and covered with Farm Assurance.
Non organic can also be accommodated often on the same loads. Collection days for cows are arranged in advance so please book in as soon as you have some to go to ensure prompt movement.
Structured Approach to Marketing
Producers marketing stock through the Co-operative are required to submit a forecast. Stock is booked in advance to avoid unnecessary delay and reduce likelihood of stock falling out of specification. It also helps in planning our marketing strategy as well as providing our processor customers with a more consistent supply and regular slaughtering facility.
