Organic Finished Cattle
Finish Cattle Stock
OLMC
requires beef cattle of 250~400kg carcass weight of the
best conformation possible, with a 3~4L fat cover in order
to meet base price or better. The cattle must have valid
Organic and Farm Assurance Certification.
The
Marketing office will notify producers and processors
of intended delivery and make the necessary arrangements
for stock to enter the slaughterhouse. It will also promptly
convey back to producers their slaughter details by fax
or post.
OLMC
has a growing network of Livestock Contractors who can
select and advise members on the condition of their stock.
Producers
can make their own transportation arrangements or OLMC
can provide transport to slaughter through its network
of ABM accredited hauliers
Structured Approach To Marketing
Producers
marketing stock through the Co-operative are required
to submit a forecast. Stock is booked in advance to avoid
unnecessary delay and reduce likelihood of stock falling
out of specification. It also helps in planning our marketing
strategy as well as providing our processor customers
with a more consistent supply and regular slaughtering
facility. (Stock Forecast PDF)
Producer Performance and Benchmarking
OLMC
strongly supports industry initiatives such as the Red
Meat Industry Forum (RMIF) Benchmarking programmes, also
English Beef and Lamb Executive (EBLEX) Better Returns
Programme.
OLMC
exclusively produces for its members their own quarterly
period analysis of stock marketed. This confidential analysis
is benchmarked against the other producers and enables
members to track improvements from year to year or perhaps
to gauge the impact of a change in policy on the performance
of their stock.
